CNC, short for Computer Numerical Control machine, is an advanced technology based on computer programming that can be used to produce various metal and non-metal workpieces. It is more precise, efficient, flexible, and automated than traditional machining methods. Before the application of CNC technology, workers usually had to manually operate the machine tools for processing, which was not only time-consuming and laborious, but also prone to errors. The use of CNC machine tools can automate these tedious and complex tasks, making the production process more convenient and efficient. The operating principle of CNC machine tools is based on the coordination of computer control systems and precision mechanical systems. In a CNC machine tool, the computer control system will program, control, and operate the machine tool, connecting to components such as the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth axes of the machine tool through interfaces to achieve high-precision machining. Compared with traditional machine tools, CNC machine tools have many advantages: firstly, CNC machine tools can complete the processing of complex-shaped parts and perform multi-axis motion simultaneously, thus greatly improving production efficiency; secondly, CNC technology can help avoid errors caused by manual operation, ensuring consistency and accuracy; in addition, CNC machine tools can also diagnose faults and perform automatic maintenance, reducing labor costs and machine downtime, and improving production efficiency and line continuity. The widespread application of CNC technology not only enhances the quality and efficiency of modern industrial production, but also provides new ideas and challenges for machine tool manufacturing and related fields. In future development, CNC machine tools will continue to play an important role in promoting the continuous progress of industrial technology.
